Usui Reiki Ryoho
Reiki is Japanese for Spiritual Energy. (However; in the West due to New Age influences it is interpreted as ‘universal life energy’).
The word Reiki is also used for a natural healing system. It was founded by Mikao Usui a Japanese Monk in the early 20th century. The word ‘healing’ is given for the process of regaining personal harmony and wholeness.
The system I use is Usui Reiki Ryoho which is very close to the Japanese original system of Usui Mikao himself. This is how Reiki was taught and used before it went to America in 1938. It does not use chakras which were added to it by the New Age Movement in the 1980’s.
Most practitioners do not learn or use this pure form of Reiki.
It is very holistic and energises the whole person on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. It works on problems of the past and present and may be able to prevent similar things happening in the future.
Science has finally accepted that we exist in a world awash with energy. This energy sustains and maintains all life on the Earth. Every organism is designed to have a constant flow of energy to and through it. When this occurs there is a natural balance and harmony within the organism. Then is not functioning properly we do not experience the natural sense of well being we are entitled to.
Reiki treatment is something that anyone can enjoy at any time. It can be complementary to other conventional treatments as it is shown to provide emotional support during recovery.
Reiki treatment – what to expect
You will remain clothed at all times. While laying on your back on a couch I will conduct the session of Reiki healing. I tend to work with no contact – so I place my hands in a series of positions above your body. I work with the whole person rather than specific areas.
After a session or so I may ask permission to work hands-on if specific areas need an extra ‘boost’ of energy. This will always be non-intrusive and top of clothing.
Many of my clients request contact Reiki from the start as this what they have experienced from other practitioners. Please ask me to work this way if that is what you prefer.
I do not diagnosis any problems and will not predict or guarantee any specific outcome from your treatments. However; I will detect specific energy changes over your body and these may relate to specific areas you have mentioned that there is an issue.
In later treatments these areas my receive additional healing time.
If you are concerned about any symptoms present you should see a GP.
What do Reiki treatments feel like?
This is impossible to answer as every person experiences it differently. Not only that each person will experience each treatment differently to the ones before and those after.
I have known some clients say they feel no sensations during a treatment. However; all of these people have experienced relaxation, slower breathing, lower blood pressure and other benefits! They just do not realise it.
So long as you go with the process you will experience deep relaxation with a calm, peaceful sense of well being. Most people will feel a sensation of heat from my hands. There may also be ‘tingling’ feeling or seeing shifting colours in your mind or in front of your eyes. Many clients have an emotional response as unblocking of stagnant energies takes place. All of these are allowing harmony and balance to be restored.
Your body will only take in the energy it requires. The client controls the energy uptake not the practitioner.
How long is a Reiki treatment?
Sessions are booked in for 60 minutes. Your Reiki treatment takes about 45 minutes. The other 15 minutes is spent in talking about your situation, progress made between sessions and preparing to leave after the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
It is unlikely that a single treatment will be sufficient. But if you are unsure about Reiki I can book you in for just one to see if it is for you or not.
If you have long standing problems, be they emotional or spiritual. You will require a series of treatments to be truly beneficial. I tend to book clients in for 3, 5 or 7 sessions. The most common being 3 treatments. But if you only need 2 out of the 3 – the last one is cancelled. The same applies to the longer blocks of treatments.
Even if you find that positive changes are taking place, it is a good idea to continue treatment as they may not be fully dealt with.
Contra-indications to Reiki treatments
As far as I am aware there are no contra-indications for Reiki treatments.
Please do not pay for your session until we have booked your appointment in. Sessions are 60-90 minutes. Menu shows both with the prices.
Please check T&C’s on the Prices page.
