Lomilomi Massage Course (2 Days)
Lomilomi Massage Course - the true meaning and understanding of Lomilomi massage appears to be getting forgotten. It is often taught and delivered like any other massage by Western therapists. But it is a very powerful spiritual and energy enriched massage experience.
Very few schools teach the spiritual and energy part of Lomilomi. I do as it is integral and necessary for the process to have its full healing and restorative powers.
The history of lomilomi is not easy to trace as nothing was ever written down. The healing massage techniques are passed down in an oral and practical tradition to each learner.
During this course you will learn about how to create balance in your life. Through the teachings of Lokahi, (balance, harmony and unity) in our life. Lomi reflects the connection with nature, as well as the breath (hā) and essence of our spirituality.
We learn in lomi how to build our mana (spiritual energy). It is this mana that will bring balance to the client receiving this healing work.
So; each practitioner is different in the way they learn and perform Lomilomi.
Lomilomi is a unique massage using long sweeping movements. The use of palms, back of the hands, forearms and elbows is key to this work. These light and flowing movements help to revive the whole body. Balancing and resolving energy blocks to create perfect harmony between body and mind. And increasing a sense of spirituality.
You will learn how to complete this massage as a full body routine. And how to incorporate it into other massage routines.
Other schools teach the Lomilomi massage in just 1 day. Well you can learn the strokes in that time. But to be able to deliver the compassion and energy that is required you cannot. To do Lomilomi justice 2 days of training are required.
Please note that this massage technique uses extremely minimal draping.

The training days
You will give and receive body Lomilomi treatments as part of this course. Group students and pairs work upon each other so no models are required. Students will be used as models for demonstrations of massage strokes and draping. This is undertaken by me - Dr. Richard Wain.
If the training is on a 1-2-1 basis you will be worked on by me and vice versa. You may bring your own model - this must be arranged in advance.
Massage couches, couch covers and paper rolls are inclusive. But on the training day, you must bring your own hand and bath/beach towel for your personal use. Lomilomi uses generous amounts of oil so bring a light fragrance free oil with you.
Tea, coffee, water and biscuits are provided on the day. You may bring your own lunch or buy it locally. There are very good catering facilities on site during week days.
